My Oulu: Taiwanese art collective opens an exhibition in Oulu

The INTER-FACE:ing LuxuryLogico exhibition organized on October 15–25 brings Taiwanese artist collective LuxuryLogico’s pieces into the Aaltosiilo in Meri-Toppila. The exhibition consists of six kinetic pieces – three physical installations and three immersive VR experiences – as well as artistic encounters including Lau Nau (Laura Naukkarinen) and the local TaikaBox.

LuxuryLogico was founded in 2010 in Taipei. It works in the intersection of art, science, and technology, creating kinetic and multimedia environments in which humane, machine, and ecological systems come together.

The exhibition examines how people sense the world and relate to it in a time when our experiences are increasingly relayed by technology and the world is formed by multiple simultaneous crises.

One of the art pieces, called The Past is a Foreign Country, was inspired by tar production in Northern Finland, and highlights this industrial history and the traces it left in the air, soil, water, and forests.

“Through the symbols of tar, forest, and the shadow of a sphere of light, the work confronts colonial memory within the geopolitical contexts of Taiwan and Finland, using light and sound to reconfigure memory and create a dialogue with the viewer”, member of LuxuryLogico Genghua Chang describes the piece.

The local collective TaikaBox performs a live show based on LuxuryLogico’s pieces at the exhibition’s closing event. In the performance, human movement is placed into dialogue with technology and kinetic systems.

The exhibition is produced in cooperation between Aaltosiilo and Factum Foundation as part of the official Oulu2026 programme. The exhibition is supported by the Taiwanese Culture Ministry.
